NYFW 7 Day Recap Video
Just when we thought we’ve seen the best the style world has to offer at New York Fashion Week, day seven happened.
Seriously, these shows just keep getting better and better! Then again — ending the day at Betsey Johnson’s party presentation does help. Missed out on all the action? Don’t worry, because we’ve got our daily runway roundup.
Our morning started off at Michael Kors. Simple separates like wide-leg trousers, leather pencil skirts, chic cardigans and classic trench coats laid the framework for the famed designer’s new range. Backstage before the show, we caught up with the gorgeous Katie Holmes who told us when it comes to style; she likes people who are just themselves. We couldn’t agree more.
Meanwhile at Nanette Lepore, bright prints, flirty ruffles and romantic lace all made a strong appearance, but not without an updated edge. Chunky shoes juxtaposed against feminine silhouettes, created wearable looks sure to get any gal noticed. Lepore told us backstage just minutes before the show that the theme was, “Neo-romantic Boudoir sexiness … so what every woman wants, right?” Right! And judging by your celebrity following, they totally agree, too.
Next up? Rachel Zoe. Leave it to the 42-year-old designer make a safari experience look chic. Models donned an array of trendy outerwear options such as drawstring jackets, vest and belted trench coats. Chambray made an encore appearance — proving to be yet another trend (like the crop top) living to see another season!
Never one to steer too far from boho-chic silhouettes, Zoe presented various pieces boasting that 70s-chic flare she’s so famous for. We’re talking high-waisted denim, maxi dresses and lace fabrics. The color palette included “earthy cognacs, khakis and golds, refreshing bursts of mint and blush, and black and while statements.”
Backstage at Betsey Johnson. was more like a birthday bash — complete with cupcakes, candy and a DJ. Models wore hot pink wigs and metallic lipstick as they danced their way down the catwalk. Accessories were abundant, including chokers, fingerless gloves, hats, dog tags that red “Betsey Johnson,” sunglasses, hats … (you get the picture).
The show ended with a bang, when models came out in cropped tops that read, “BJ One A Day,” and underwear featuring the days of the week. Betsey cartwheeled her way down the catwalk in a similar attire, with smiles the whole way through. When asked what advice she would give ladies, she told us plain and simple, “Get dressed and have fun.” We’ll agree with that! Watch the full recap video below.
